Personal Statement
Hello College Coaches ~
I am very excited about playing volleyball in college!
As I proceed through my senior year, I have spent a fair amount of time thinking about how I want my college experience to develop. First, I am a student, so I am looking for a college that can provide me with a strong educational experience. Second, I am an athlete, so I am looking for a college where I can continue to grow as a team player in the game of volleyball. Lastly, I am looking for a college where I can grow as a person, by getting involved in college activities.
As an athlete I am a team leader. My team looks to me for direction, guidance and support. On the court I am the team cheerleader. I have the ability to encourage my team and keep them "up" and focused during each game. I am a natural leader, both on and off the volleyball court. I am coachable. I have been taught the skills of volleyball by both my high school and club coaches. When my coach tells me something to improve my form, skills, or ability - I listen and apply the information.
I am currently co- leading a small group of high school freshmen girls at my church. This is the first time my church has chosen high school seniors to lead a small group. I was chosen to co-lead this group because I am a good listener, I have made good choices in my life, and I have the ability to encourage others to make good choices too. It has been an amazing experience to lead this group.
As a student, I am the kind of person you would want to know. I am a good friend. I care about people. I am kind. I want to make the world a better place for future generations. My teachers have always told my parents I am a "model student" - follows the rules, respectful, participates, and a joy to teach. I am very excited about my next journey as a college student and hopefully a student-athlete.
If the information in my personal statement seems like I would be a good fit for your college team, I would enjoy hearing from you.
Thank you,
Trisha Smith
