My name is Avery Stein. I have been playing volleyball for about 7 years. I knew I wanted to play volleyball when I first saw my sister play; she is 3 years older than me so I couldn't play for about 2 more years and it was the longest 2 years of my life. From the first time my sister taught me how to pass a ball, it spoke to me and I have loved every minute of playing. I am a very determined and competitive player. I play with grit and intensity. I work hard to play and keep my position. I plan to go to a four year school and then after that I would like to attend law school or medical school. I have big plans for the rest of my life and I would love to have volleyball be a part of it. I push people and myself to be the best they can be, not only on the court but also in the classroom. I take my education very seriously which is evident by all of the honors classes that I take. In all of those classes I have excelled and thrived. As I have played throughout the years I have learned from volleyball that I love to be moving, I have a natural ability to lead, and that I am a perfectionist. I was a captain for my team my freshman year and my team looked to me to encourage and support the team. I really started to intensely pursue the path toward volleyball in 7th grade when my friend and teammate, Hannah, was diagnosed with brain cancer. When I heard about it I knew that for the rest of my career in volleyball that I would be playing with all that I have for Hannah since she could not longer play. I am very driven and collected. I am organized to a fault and I hope to show case my academic and athletic career in college. In all I do, I do it with passion and heart.
