Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Mia Carroll and I will be playing volleyball, a sport that I love, in college. I am a great addition to the team because I hustle and perform well under pressure. When the pressure is on I stay calm, never give up, and communicate with my teammates. My ethos is to work extremely hard to improve so my teammates and I become better volleyball players. On the court, my quiet intensity keeps the team positive, playing hard and therefore helps make my teammates better.
What makes me different from other players is I am easily coach-able and stay calm. When a coach instructs me what I can do better I work hard to do what he or she says. I will then be very focused to improve in my play and skills as instructed. Also, in high pressure situations, I stay calm and focused on the point we are playing which guides the rest of the team to behave the same. On the court I am a fun and supportive teammate while pushing myself and others to work harder and achieve more as a team than we thought possible. Off the court, I am always looking to get better whether that is by working out or just having a fun scrimmage.
Excellence in school is critically important to me. Success in the classroom occurs when I stay focused during class and study. Achieving academic excellence in college goes hand in hand with achieving on the court.
These traits make me an excellent addition to a team; on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
