Hello, my name is Isabela Dodd, better known as Izzy, I am currently homeschooled and play as a libero and a defensive specialist. I am in my sophomore year of high school. I have been blessed to play the wonderful sport of volleyball since I was eight years old. My sophomore year was the first year to play for a homeschool sports organization, I made the varsity volleyball team as their starting Libero and I was also awarded the defensive player of the year.
I have always loved the sport of volleyball, my Mom allowing me to stay up into the wee hours to watch team USA win against Brazil in Tokyo 2020 (2021). I am a die hard Nebraska fan, my role models Lexi Rodriguez and Laney Choboy, but will always root for my hometown, University of Houston, any day. This sport has helped me grow more as a person and in self-motivation and determination to continue to improve athletically and academically. To also support women's sports and to support these athletes, I am proud for those before me and how they have brought many fans (including myself) to the game.
I describe myself as a competitive, communicative, coachable, caring, a quick learner and confident. I am most definitely a people person and can get along with most everyone I meet. In my spare time I love to crochet, read, play with my animals and frog, put anything together like Legos and puzzles. Fun fact about me is I can complete a rebukes cube in one minute and twenty seconds. I strive to help those around me in any way I possibly can, whether that be in skill or just being a positive light. I did not make a team once at my club and I worked very hard and kept showing up until I made one. After this experience I now work my hardest all the time and I do not take anything for granted, nothing is given it has to be earned. I would also describe myself as a leader and was the co-captain of my varsity team. I know I have improved greatly in my position, but I work very hard, so those who struggle around me I am always willing to share my story and tell them "you got this". My goal for college is to ultimately find a program that will educate me in robotics engineering and allow me to continue to do what I love most, play volleyball.
