Zoe Lorica '22 Recruiting Profile

I hope to pursue a degree in nursing, as well as play volleyball at the next level.  Living and playing volleyball in Hawaii has taught me to work for things that I want, and I don't expect things to be handed to me. 

I understand that it's my responsibility to work towards whatever personal, academic, or athletic goals that I have.

Being born and raised in a close knit community like Hawaii has instilled in me the work ethic and the drive to excel. I use both of these traits in the classroom as well as on the court. 

I maintain a >4.0 GPA while playing varsity volleyball and basketball for the past 3 seasons, as well as club seasons for those 2 sports. I am committed to the task at hand and give my full effort in everything I do. 

I am undersized compared to many of the hitters in collegiate volleyball, but I do not see this as a downside. I see this as an opportunity to overcome another challenge. I have learned to be crafty with my shots and create new ways in order for me to be a point scorer. I am constantly working to improve my vertical, footwork, and strength in order to keep up with the change of pace at the next level of volleyball. Outside of volleyball, I have 12 years of basketball experience which has helped me tremendously on the volleyball court. I  have the advantage in the quickness of my footwork that basketball requires,  and I'm an effective communicator when executing plays.
