Personal Statement
Hard work and dedication defines how I go about everything in my daily life. I pride myself just as much in my schoolwork as I do in my athletic achievements. Striving for a high GPA regardless of the level of the class is very important to me. I work extremely hard to continue to reach my full potential as a student athlete. Doing this allows me to continue to be eligible not only on the court, but also set a positive example as a team leader and always be there for my teammates when they need me the most.
Sports have always been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I always wanted to try everything and enjoyed each sport and the competition it provided. Growing up I played soccer, basketball, volleyball and even a little gymnastics. My mom was also a college volleyball athlete and still plays today, so I was watching this game and spending a lot of time in the gym from a very young age. I was drawn to volleyball and it easily became my passion. It is a game I love to play any time, anywhere and a game that I excel at playing.
I started playing volleyball at age 13 and played a number of positions early on including DS, Setter and Outside Hitter until the age of 14. At 14, at the urging of coaches, I focused solely on developing my skills as an outside hitter.
I also take a lot of pride in being a team leader. My mother taught me that winning is an attitude, it's a part of who I am and what makes me the best athlete and teammate I can be. I would like nothing more than the opportunity to continue towards my goal of achieving excellence not only on the court playing the game I love, but in the classroom as well.
