Leadership is something I care very deeply about. Being confident in myself and using my knowledge to help others in challenging situations is one of my favorite things. My sophomore year I was the team captain of the JV volleyball team, and I was nominated for the Lady Norseman award by the team at the end of the season. The Lady Norseman award is an award that is given to someone that shows leadership and the qualities of a Norseman on the team. I was voted to be the Chair of Student Involvement for Student Council this past year, and this coming year I was voted to be the Vice President.
I have been on the leadership team at my youth group the past two years, and I was chosen to go to Denver, Colorado for a leadership training conference, along with two others from my youth group. It was an amazing experience that helped me grow in my skills and confidence. Also, the past two summers, I have gone to Racine, Wisconsin and Valdosta, Georgia to participate in Workcamp. This is a week long trip where we all sleep in a high school classroom, wake up at 7am, go to work at a residents house until about 3pm everyday, then come back and grow together in our faith. It is such a cool experience, and I have gotten to know so many new people through these two trips.
Most importantly, I love being a teammate. Playing volleyball has given me multiple new and lasting friendships over the years. One of my favorite things about the sport is encouraging others to excel in their talents while at the same time improving my own performance.
