Personal Statement
Is there ever a simple way to explain your love for something? And that love leads you to strive to better yourself every day? I have been involved in a couple different sports throughout my life; however, volleyball is the sport that I feel the most passion for. My passion for volleyball has continued to grow through the years and keeps growing.
I love pushing myself to new levels, especially giving one hundred percent effort on every play. The greatest feeling is giving my all to keep the ball in play! It has been a great experience helping coach our middle school teams; allowing me to share my enthusiasm for volleyball with younger players!
Currently, I play volleyball at Wilmington High School and for the club Competitive Edge. My sophomore and junior year I made the Interstate Eight All-Conference team. In addition, I have received the Interstate Eight All-Academic Award since my freshman year. Both years I was also selected as an All-Area player for the Kankakee Journal and received honorable mention All-Area for the Joliet Herald. My junior year I received All-State honorable mention for the Champaign Gazette. My junior year I made the all-tournament team at both the Mahomet-Seymour Invitational and the Wilmington High School Fall Classic. I am honored to have been team captain last year and excited to have been chosen again for my senior year. A leader needs to lead both physically and vocally, and I feel that I excel in both of these categories.
Because setting is a very analytical position, I enjoy and excel in it. Being an analytical person, I am good at reading my teammates and the other team very well. Learning is a lifelong experience that certainly does not end in high school. I want to go to college to continually challenge myself in volleyball, academics, and to grow personally.
I am 5’8” and have played the positions of setter, outside hitter, and right side hitter. I feel that I am a very versatile player that can be put in most positions when needed. I will be a great asset to any team I play for because of my enthusiasm, experience, and my drive to learn more. I will be a great strength to any school athletically and academically.
Sincerely,
Renee Enz
