Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball when I was 10 years old. My interest in volleyball was influenced by my parents who both played. My love for the game only grew when I started playing club and faced higher competition. I played club for two years before I started high school. For me high school volleyball was challenging. I went from a fast-paced game with club to a much slower moving game at school. During this time, I felt as though I was able to grow my skills in mental and emotional toughness. I felt that I should step up and be a leader on the court, but that was hard for me, since I was the only Freshman on Varsity. That push from my comfort zone allowed me to grow my leadership skills, and I believe those skills have followed me back into my club season.
As I have grown as a volleyball player, my skill sets have matured, my confidence, grace, and coordination has improved, and my mental toughness and work ethic has continued to evolve. I feel these achievements have made me ready for the challenges and higher-level competition that I will face. When I step onto the court for volleyball, my attitude is always positive, even after mistakes. I push myself to be the best player for any team I play for. Along with pushing myself, I want a team that challenges me. I know that I have what it takes to help make a team the best they can be.
