For having parents with an athletic background, I have been playing sports for as long as I could remember. As I started to get older, my parents got me involved in basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. I started falling in love with volleyball during my 6th grade AAU season. It was formed of all the girls that went to my school and I instantly had a blast playing. I quickly learned that that's what I wanted to do. I want to play on a team, make lifelong memories, and have a blast with my teammates.
During my freshmen year, I was able to participate on my high school's varsity basketball team. Like all the other freshmen, we also played JV. As the season went on, two of my closest friends started getting more and more minutes in the varsity games. I had two ways to deal with that. Either let it get me down or work. I decided to work a little harder every practice, game, and open gym and show the coach what I was made of. This situation really frustrated me, but it ended up being a blessing, In the end, my work paid off. I became a regular varsity player my sophomore year. This taught me to never give up and that work ethic is very important. This not only formed me into who I am as a person but also who I am as an athlete.
I have a strong passion for the game of volleyball and commitment to the team. I am willing to step up to a challenge and work until it's achieved. Since I am a multi sport athlete, I know to work well with a team. I tend to be able to control myself and stay calm when there is pressure or the game isn't going in my team's favor. I always strive to be the best that I can be not just on the court but in my academics as well.
