My first exposure to sports was soccer, I soon realized this wasn't the sport for me. I started playing volleyball very late compared to my friends and people my age. I began as a novice player, driven by curiosity and desire to challenge myself. I played for my middle school in the 7th grade and was on the B team. I tried out again the next year and made the B team yet again. Later in my 8th grade year I started playing club to improve my volleyball skills. All of this hard work began to pay off. My initial steps onto the volleyball court were tentative, as I grappled with the fundamentals of the game. Through many hours of practice and extreme commitment, I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of the sport’s complexities. My freshman year of high school I was offered a spot on JV, I was thrilled yet nervous. I was still behind on my skills compared to my teammates, though after my school season was over I began to take lessons with my coaches and work on the little things. My sophomore year I was also on JV. I learned a lot about teamwork and leadership. As a team player, I have grown to appreciate the importance of effective communication, trust, and support. Here I am, my junior year of high school on the varsity team! I am continuing to improve as I am playing at a higher level. My journey has grown with my continuous self-improvement. I’ve set and achieved personal goals, pushing myself to reach new heights in areas like serving accuracy, defensive maneuvers, and strategic thinking. These accomplishments have instilled in me a sense of pride and hunger for further achievements. I am very coachable, determined, competitive, aggressive, and always ready for a challenge. Over the past 5 years, my journey in volleyball has been nothing short of transformative.Today, I stand as a testament to the power of perseverance, dedication, and personal growth within this dynamic sport.
