Personal Statement
Five years ago when I began playing volleyball I could not have dreamed that it could bring so much to my life. I have traveled to many places and met great people and players from across the country. Volleyball as changed who I am as a person and I continue to learn the value of hard work and sacrifice.
My interest in the sport began when I was little girl, watching the many games of sand volleyball on my grandparents farm. Friends and family would gather on the weekends; playing games that were competitive, fun, and exciting! So, when I found that volleyball was offered at my middle school, as an extra-curricular activity, I knew I immediately wanted to become apart of the team.
I feel I have grown the most through my time playing with my club team, especially that first year. Upon entering that first season I set a goal of wanting to become a better player and to make the Varsity squad on my high school team. I was fortunate to have played for a coach who saw my potential and who truly believed in me. The season progressed and I felt my self confidence growing along with my skill set. Even though my club team may not have won the championship at the end of the season I felt like I walked away a winner. I learned the value of hard work, commitment, and what it truly means to be a team player. I also learned that I had in fact achieved my goal of a starting position on the Varsity squad. There was nothing more rewarding than knowing that when you work hard you can achieve your dreams. I have apply those lessons I have learned to all aspects in my life on and off the court. I am looking for a program where I can continue to be successful athletically, as well as academically. I know I have the talent to compete at the college level, and through my determination, will-power, and focus I will be an effective player on your team.
