Personal Statement
As a 20-year old freshman in January 2019, I have four full years of eligibility and a maturity on the court that can help lead a competitive team to reach big goals. Red-shirt event: During my true freshman season in 2016 at Concordia-Chicago, I tore two ligaments on my right thumb (lucky to be a leftie) during a preseason game. Fully healed, I experience no limitations from the injury or the required surgery.
Update 9-19-19: Currently playing for Kentucky Christian University as libero for varsity and all-around for the JV team. I have earned 24 hours in two semesters: Fall 2016, Spring 2019. Life was a roller coaster nightmare for our family between those semesters. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer (incurable), underwent a complete abdominal resection, chemo, and radiation that devastated her, and continues to have procedures that identify ongoing pain and physical disabilities. She has been amazing in doing her best for my siblings and me, including making me focus on life goals and my dream of being a student-athlete in volleyball.
My senior year at Ballard High School was exciting and memorable. I was so proud that the team elected me captain. As a transfer in the middle of the previous year, I was ineligible to play my junior year because I played varsity (captain, starter) during freshman and sophomore years at Waggener HS, where I helped lead the team in improving its record from 2 wins over the previous two years, to a winning season my sophomore year (16-14).
To keep improving during the break between Concordia-Chicago and my future team, I continuously played in rec leagues with current and former college players—they’ve upped my game. We've won the city's Brightside championship twice. I work out at Planet Fitness regularly to enhance strength, conditioning, and vertical jump. Coach references will confirm that I listen, I work hard, and I hustle. Unless I grow to be 6'2", I have to work harder so I can out-jump much taller players. Invite me to work out with your team and watch me play; you'll like what you see. Whether you need an outside lefty hitter or a DS, we need to talk about how great our future together can be!
