Kathryn Hockenbury '20 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Kathryn "Kate" Hockenbury. I am a 17-year-old Junior at Hopedale High School. I started playing volleyball in 5th grade at a town clinic and that was when I fell in love with the sport. I loved how competitive it was without being a contact sport. Learning how to hit and serve made me feel strong. I pursued the sport and made junior varsity in 7th grade as a starting middle hitter. Then, I made varsity in 8th grade and was a starter on varsity by 9th grade. I have played other positions but I dominate the net in the middle. Throughout the years I have learned a lot about volleyball which helps me teach my fellow teammates. As a captain next year I will use my knowledge and love of the game to help and inspire others.

Off the court, I value my education and use my leadership skills. I take high-level classes and excel. I am currently apart of two honors societies and was just invited to apply to the National Honor Society. I also use my leadership in my school and community. Being apart of the Leadership Organization Of Peers and Raising Student Voices and Participation groups at my school means that I get to talk directly with underclassmen to make changes in my school. I am also a student representative of the Principal's Advisory Council and the Homework Committee which allows me to form connections with my teachers and administrators to make changes in my school. I hope to make positive change and leave an impression on any school I attend in the future.

I am responsible and dependable and a great leader but most importantly, a dedicated player.
