Sophia Mitchell '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sophia Mitchell and I am graduating with the class of 2022. I am from Akwesasne, New York. I currently have been a setter for the last 3 years but have been a DS, right side, and outside hitter in the past. I started playing volleyball in 8th grade and immediately fell in love with the sport. I then played for Seaway Smash's Volleyball club and was on Massena Central High School's volleyball team from 9th-10th grade in which my 10th-grade year we were the Section X Champions and I received an award for Sportsmanship. I then transferred to Northfield Mount Hermon which is a private school in Gill, MA which outstanding academics as well as sports. In our 2021 season, we were ranked within the top 10 boarding school teams in New England. I also was an honorable mention for All-NEPSAC Class A School Award.  Upon transferring, I repeated my 10th-grade year, since transferring I have challenged myself with honors and AP courses, joined clubs, became a Global Ambassador, and started a Native American Affinity Club to help indigenous identifying students transition to life at NMH. I have been a member of my varsity lacrosse team since 9th grade and joined the swim team in my off-season to stay in shape. I hope to find a college that challenges me both academically and athletically!
