It seems like volleyball has always been a part of my life. I'm one of the younger cousins in my family and my older cousins and aunts, who I look up to, all played volleyball. I started signing up for volleyball camps when I was 5 years old and have always loved the sport. I've played many different sports, including softball, soccer, swimming, cheerleading, and track but volleyball has always been my favorite. I began more competitively playing volleyball at age 11 when I joined my first travel team. I am a goal driven person; I believe setting goals for myself helps me improve and work harder. My first goal was to play at a national level. I tried out and made the 13U Elite team at Toledo Dynamic Volleyball Club. The next club season, I tried out for the same club but unfortunately did not make the top team. That pushed me to really work harder and put in extra practice. I would practice against the garage and out at my volleyball net for hours. My hard work paid off and I improved a lot that season. I made the Elite team the following year and achieved my goal of being in the starting Varsity lineup at my high school as a freshman.
I am involved in a lot of extracurricular activities outside of volleyball. I have been in 4-H since I was 8 years old showing livestock at the Monroe County Fair, I am now an officer of my 4-H club. I was recently elected onto the Junior Livestock Association (JLA) and plan to be an officer in the future. My academics are also very important to me and I have a goal to graduate highschool with a 4.0 GPA. I was a member of National Junior Honor Society where I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout middle school. I plan to apply for National Honor Society next year as a Junior. I am involved in my schools FFA (Future Farmers of America) program where we do lots of things related to leadership skills and agriculture and I plan to hold an officer position in the future. So far in my high school career I have been advanced in math and science, and in honors english. I plan to dual enroll in college classes and take AP (advanced placement) courses my junior and senior year. I hope to continue my athletic and academic career in college by playing volleyball and majoring in pharmacy or nursing. I am looking for a school that has a good medical program as well as competitive athletics.
