Hi, I'm Julie Shallman from Holt, Michigan. I'm a 6'2" Middle for the Class of 2013. Some of my strengths include being coachable, quick, a team-player, a 4.0 student, and being realtively new to the club scene-- 2012 is my 3rd year. This means my skills have steadily improved-- being on the 15-3, 16-2, and now the 17-1 team at my club, as well as not having deeply embedded bad habits! I'm eager to learn, and able to learn! Regarding school, I would love to play volleyball in college not only because I really love the game, but also because I want to learn the true depth of my athletic abilities! "How good can I be?" My mom received a scholarship to swim at a Big Ten school despite not even being on a swim team until late in 9th grade. And my dad was a good enough football player that he "walked on" the team at his college. My parents' stories give me confidence that I can also have great athletic achievement and play and excel at the collegiate level. I'm open to attending schools of any size and prefer to be east of the MIssissippi. At this time, I'm interested in studying Engineering because I like Math and Science and like to "problem solve." I'm not sure if my family has financial need. I do know my mom is taking care of me and my younger sister without any assistance from my dad. In closing, my goals include being the best player I can be by listening, learning, and working hard. I would like to contribute to my team's success beginning my Freshman year, if possible, and just keep getting bigger and better on the court! Thank you for your consideration!
