Personal Statement
I was raised in a competitive family from an early age. My parents were always encouraging new sports and opportunities to help me and my two younger siblings find where we fit in best, and team sports always seemed to be a strong fit for my personality. I am a natural leader and have always loved working with people in social and athletic situations. Volleyball was too perfect: it combined strategy and thinking with effort and camaraderie, all of which drew me to it and have kept me in it ever since I started at 12 years old.
I was extremely fortunate to have a club like Northern Lights so close to home that has provided me with so many opportunities and experiences. I've played at high levels, from local tournaments to national championships, and I've been exposed to hundreds of other athletes with aspirations to play in college. This sparked my determination to gear my volleyball career towards the potential to play for a high-level collegiate program. Developing alongside my volleyball aspirations were my academic goals. I hope to attend a highly to moderately selective college with hopes of a degree that I can continue pursuing through graduate school. The best case scenario for me would be finding a university that can provide an equal amount of academic and athletic challenges, along with an environment and student society that is fun and diverse.
