My sister taught me how to play volleyball in fourth grade and I haven’t been able to stop playing since. From going to multiple camps and playing in club, through volleyball I've learned mental toughness and perseverance. I enjoy the competitive nature of the sport and the sense of family while being on a team.
As a student I always participate in class and I take initiative to advocate for myself by speaking with my teachers and school counselors. I may not know what career I want to pursue just yet, but I am open to all possibilities. I maintain a 3.5 GPA and I am a member of National Honors Society, Student Council, Interact Club, Vice President of Varsity Club, Eagle Ambassadors (leadership group), and I’ve been to multiple leadership conferences. As a sophomore, I was chosen to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership conference in June of 2018 where I learned many leadership skills and participated in a community improvement project. When I am not on the court, I’m a part of the track & field team or at the gym.
In 2018, my high school team won the Division II championship to cap off an undefeated season. This past year, my school team won another championship along with an undefeated season as well. I have also reached a personal milestone of 500 digs and ended my high school career with 536 in total.
Being a part of the Gilford Volleyball Team has taught me how to be a team player. I’m coachable, open-minded, and I always encourage my teammates. I bring positive energy on and off the court. When I go in to play, I always remind myself that I need to make a difference because I’m put on the court for a reason. I know my lines well and I have the ability to read my opponents and track the ball. I’m very eager to learn more about volleyball and continue my career at the collegiate level.
