Siyara Herbert '17 Recruiting Profile

It was love at first sight! I was introduced to volleyball in the fifth grade and have been playing ever since. I am now a junior at Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains, NJ where I am a starter on the Varsity team. This season, my team won the County Championship and Co-Conference titles, and advanced to the state semi-finals.  I was awarded First Team All-County and First Team All-Conference honors.  In my sophomore year, as a starter and captain of my Junior Varsity team, I led my team to the County Championship title.

I am a 6-rotation outside hitter. I play offense and defense well and have amazing court vision and awareness. My athleticism was demonstrated this season as I was the only player on my varsity team to play the full duration of every game. I am a student of the game. I watch and analyze my game tapes as well as those of other college games.

Volleyball has helped me become a better student and has enabled me to be well-rounded. I have learned self-discipline, how to prioritize, and never quit when challenged in life or my studies.  As a student athlete, I wish to study physical therapy, communications or law in the New England, Mid-Atlantic or Southern region.  Although my preference is to stay close to home, I am flexible.  

I want to play volleyball at the next level and vow to give school and the sport my all. I play every game like it's my last. I am Siyara Herbert.
