Hi, my name is Sloane Lynyak and I am a 5'11 Pin Hitter playing for the NYC Juniors 14 National team. I love to learn and I constantly look for opportunities to get better every day. In my experiences as a club player in these past five years, I have undergone tremendous growth, both on and off the court. Volleyball has shaped my character and developed my strong work ethic. Over the years, I have embraced challenges as opportunities to learn and have honed my technical skills to become a stronger player and teammate. I am continuing to develop a deeper understanding of the game, and I look for every opportunity to get reps in. In terms of my strengths as a player, my serve is definitely one of them. However, I am continuing to work on my hitting and incorporating more shots into gameplay. I have acquired the nickname "The Energizer Bunny" on my team because I always bring loads of energy to the court and lift my teammate's spirits up.
Beyond the volleyball court, my academic pursuits have been a key part of my life. I am particularly interested in the fields of Physics and Astronomy. For the past two summers, I have interned at The Maria Mitchell Observatory on Nantucket and conducted original research alongside National Science Foundation fellows. I also started the Spence Physics and Astronomy Club at my school, a mentorship program that conducts experiments, projects and shares current events in the realm of astrophysics to younger middle school students. We have over 30 members!
