After being cut from the basketball team during my first year of middle school, I refocused my efforts playing volleyball in the backyard with my older sister. Being two years older and an outside hitter, she was unknowingly turning me into a setter. Together, every day in the backyard we didn't realize we were crafting the skills and teamwork that we would use to help our high school team advance to the fourth round (Elite Eight) of the state playoffs during my freshman and her junior year. This was a first for our school.
Being the freshman starting setter for my demanding, older sister has built a mental toughness that will continue to grow over my high school career and help me be an asset to a competitive college team. Now that I am hitting my growth spurt, the high school basketball coaches are begging me to play for them, but volleyball is my passion.
