Jordan Birdsong '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jordan Birdsong and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I go to Mercy McAuley High School and play club at Arsenal Volleyball Academy on their 18-1 National team. For both high school and club, I am number 13. I am an extremely versatile player - I have played DS/libero, outside, and setter for my high school and club team. I am a very coachable player and would be a great asset to any team. I'm always willing to put in extra work to continue improving. 

My high school season is going very well. We play a very tough schedule being in the GGCL. Currently, we're 13-2 with our only losses being against other teams in our league. I have been a starting DS the past two seasons. 

Academically, I work just as hard as I do at volleyball. I have a 4.3 weighted GPA while taking AP and honors classes every year of high school. I also scored a 29 on the ACT and a 1300 on the SAT. 

One of the things I do best while on the court is serve receive. I have a "give me the ball" mentality and that helps me stay focused and ready while the other team is serving. A goal I have for this season is to pass above a 2.0. I always embrace pressure situations when the game is on the line. 

Playing volleyball has taught me to be a leader and to work with others. I also enjoy the friendships I have made on my teams over the years. I think having a positive attitude and welcoming environment are important on a team, and they are also things I look for in a college. I want to feel like I can trust my teammates with anything.
