Starting my Junior year of high school as a 3rd year starter, it is fun to look back. I was honored to be setter / right side hitter starter on the Varsity Volleyball Team at Scioto High School in Dublin, Ohio. both my Freshman and Sophomore years. Being a younger class man, it was important for me to recognize our team had players who had been with the program longer and players with different levels of experience and use that knowledge to develop strong team unity thru our differences. Having the opportunity to represent my school thru sports is very rewarding. Personally being able to contribute thru my execution to a successful season with Sophomore year record of 18-7 was energizing as we played very balanced and united.
My freshman year, my volleyball coach recommended a Leadership Development Program. It has allowed me the opportunity to put those concepts to practice while participating in varsity Volleyball, Basketball and Lacrosse. I appreciate the experience and talents all my teammates bring forward. Finding what motivates them was key to us achieving better results. While working closely with my coaches, leadership will be a continued focus for my final two years of high school.
Participating in sports brings a great sense of satisfaction, but it also helps me be disciplined and organized. During the school year sports helped me remain focused and prioritize my time more efficiently. After all, my education is my top priority. Participating thru sports has also allowed me to develop strong relationships with my teachers and helped me ensure I am actively engaged and use their experiences to be a stronger student.
When I think about college and beyond I am currently interested in Childhood Education, History, Art and potentially Coaching. Working with younger kids would be enjoyable to show them the benefits of sports and school while having fun. That sort of works sounds very appealing and is something I would like to explore in college. I am very interested in exploring how my athletic experiences and accomplishments would allow me to pursue a college degree while also competing in sports.
