I first took an interest in volleyball the summer before seventh grade. I remember watching a few sporting events and seeing how the players just bonded together like a family and it really made me want that for myself. Volleyball in particular really stood out to me as a fun and competitive game.
During my first year playing, my coach told me that I had a lot of potential, but I also had a lot to learn. I was so driven by her feedback to be my best that I would come home from practice or a game and head straight outside to work on my skills. This mindset carries over into volleyball to this day as well as everything I do. Participating in extra classes, camps and one-on-one lessons has helped me secure a place on National level teams.
Playing volleyball has taught me that in order to succeed, I have to trust my teammates and that they are giving their best while I give my best and build their trust in me.
This year I was proud to learn that I placed within the top 25 students in my class academically. School has always been a big focus of mine and I intend to carry this over into college. My goal is to find a University that is first a good fit academically, but also one that I can bring value to the volleyball program.
