Personal Statement
My name is Jordyn Heitbrink and I have wanted to play college volleyball since I was 10 years old. I am a 5ft 11 inch Junior Outside Hitter for the Minster HS Volleyball team. This is my 4th year playing Varsity. Both my sophomore and junior year, I led my team in kills. Junior year I also led my team in aces. In 2014 our HS team made it to the Division IV Regional Finals before getting beat by Ft Loramie, who went on to become Div IV State Champion. This year we finished the season ranked #20 in Div IV. I have been named NKTelco Varsity Player of the Game 5 times, as well as being named 2nd team all Conference. This year I played Club at Grand Lake Volleyball, playing for an 18's team with 5 players who had already committed to play at the next level. Prior to that I had played for Team Atlantis , playing on the National Team since age 13. Minster High School is part of the Midwest Athletic Conference in VB. A team from the MAC has made it to the State Final Four 22 consecutive years, bringing home 7 State Championships!!!! The conference includes Marion Local, St Henry, Versailles, Coldwater, New Knoxville and New Bremen. All were ranked in the State this year as well as Minster. Week in and week out, some very competitive volleyball is played. Quite a few MAC graduates have gone on to have very successful volleyball careers at the collegiate level. The motto in our conference… ”It’s tougher to win a Conference Title than a State Title…. The battle for getting to State is winning District’s (ie beating the other teams in the MAC)”
I am also a high jumper on Minster’s HS Track team. I finished 6th at State in High Jump and the 4x200 relay team I run on finished 2nd, just narrowly getting beat at the finish line. I have cleared 5 ft 6 inches, which puts me in the top 25 in the State of Ohio and the top 300 in the nation. I set a new meet record at a large Division 1 track Invite as a sophomore. My current vertical leap approach jump is 9 ft 10 in and I am working on hitting 10 ft. Currently I have earned 5 Varsity letters in various sports. I feel my jumping ability is a huge asset to my volleyball game. I love to play the game so my 1st choice in college is to play volleyball.
Academically, I have a 3.6 GPA, on a scale of 95-100% = A. My best score on the ACT is 24. I will be taking the test again in September with the goal of achieving a 26 or better. I am currently dual enrolled and hope to have 18 college credit hours completed by end of my senior year. I am also enrolled in one Advanced Placement class.
I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me academically and socially. I am very passionate about volleyball and would love to find a school where I can contribute.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!!
