Personal Statement
Playing volleyball has always been one of my absolute favorite things to do. I started playing volleyball in 3rd grade through our biddy program and every time I step onto the court, I fall more in love with the game. If I got to play volleyball in college, it would be a dream come true. I am willing to work and do whatever it takes to get to this level of play because I am fully dedicated to this sport. Volleyball has strengthened my ability to be a leader as well as a good teammate. I believe that in order to be a truly memorable player, you must not only have the skills, but you also need to be able to be a leader and a teammate that people will look to when they're in need of being picked up. These are valuable skills that are needed in a volleyball player to be successful and I know that I can bring these skills to the court.
I have played as a defensive specialist on our Varsity team for the past 2 years. I am a starter for our team and I received Honorable Mention All-District for this past 2014 season. I have also played club volleyball for New Wave Volleyball Club for the past 4 years and I am currently waiting to start my 5th season of club volleyball with New Wave this winter.
Not only am I dedicated in the gym, but I am also very dedicated in the classroom and in my community. Grades and schoolwork have always been very important to me and that is why I always put my best foot forward when it comes to my schoolwork and the work I do in the community. Last spring, I was chosen by my guidance counselor to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership conference where I spent four amazing days learning all about leadership and how to become a better leader in my community. Currently, I am President of our school Spirit Club, a member of our Letterman's Club, Math Club and National Honors Society. I am also member of the Gospel Hill Ministry Teen Group and I am a member of the Nellie Chapel United Method Church.
