I have been involved in the world of volleyball since I was a baby, from watching my dad play with his friends at my local college, to training with my first coach using my neighbourhood park as a court. Yet even at that young age, I had no doubt in my mind that volleyball would be a part of my life forever. I have dreamed of playing College volleyball since then and will do anything to achieve this goal.
On the volleyball court, I have strong ball control skills, a high IQ and a strong sense of leadership. As the team captain for my club team, I try to maintain a positive yet highly focused attitude at all times, whether that be in practice or at tournaments. I truly believe that how you practice is how you will perform when it matters, so I always strive to put in 100% effort.
My academics are equally important to me and I have consistently maintained a 4.0 GPA (98-99% average) throughout high school. My teachers and classmates have helped me build a strong interest in STEM-related subjects, particularly Biology and I hope to further my academic career by studying a similar field in college. I also actively participate in leadership roles at school. I run the Model UN program and I am the lead broadcaster for the morning announcements at my school.
Beyond the classroom and the volleyball court, I've explored various hobbies and interests. I used to play piano at a level 9 certification. I've also enjoyed playing on sports teams for hockey, swimming, and tennis, though none of which compared to my love for volleyball. Additionally, I'm involved in officiating volleyball. I obtained my local referee certification in 2022 and hope to obtain my provincial certification soon. I often go to the US to officiate at larger tournaments, the most notable being the AAU national championships in Florida this July.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on a volleyball court. I am open to all options but ultimately want to find a college that has a good balance of academics and athletics.
