Personal Statement

I envision my college years to be a period of growth and furthering my self-realization. My ambition in school is to delve into a Chemical Engineering major that will lead me to a corresponding career field to pursue Sustainable Energy and Waste Management research.  The same drive that I have for school has been reflected in my athletic career. My history in athletics began at a very young age; I was a captain on my elementary school soccer team, and I loved to spend my evenings in the gym learning Tae-Kwon-Do. In middle school, I fell in love with volleyball, which I have pursued for five years now. I am a great candidate for a collegiate team because of my strong work ethic on and off the court, my dedication to the sport and team, and my discipline related to effort, and my teachable spirit. I will strive to be a great asset to the team's defense and serving attack by displaying leadership, being disciplined, and completing my part for the greater good of the team. I am different from other recruits in character because no matter the circumstance, I am always a positive team player and leader. I am a unique athlete because I am passionate in being teachable, and whether I'm digging up balls in a game or shagging during practice, I give maximum effort. Academics-wise, I am different from other recruits because of my dedication to my studies. I am graduating in the top five percent of my class, as I have accumulated exceeding grades in all honors courses. Overall, I understand that how I carry myself reflects the character of my team and school, and whether I am walking to class or playing on the court, I strive to show honor and respect to opponents, teammates, and colleagues.
