Samantha Kruszon '14 Recruiting Profile

I really enjoy and love playing volleyball. I see myself being involved in volleyball in college and beyond whether through the continuing of playing or coaching or both. It is a lifestyle for me and I would like to share my experiences with others and pass along the valuable life lessons the sport has taught me. Volleyball has helped me learn to work through the struggles of having a learning disability as well. I have to work harder than most in school but it has taught me how not to let obstacles keep me from what I like and also learn how to manage all my time between volleyball, school and life. I would like to show kids who have learning disabilities that you can overcome the challenges and that having a sport can be a way to help push through the tough times.

I would like to make my career choice and volleyball a way to share my experiences. I want to show that we can learn and instruct in positive and proactive ways as opposed to reactive and unproductive methods. Having played many types of volleyball, indoors and out doors; for many years I have encountered numerous methods. We are defined too often as volleyball players instead of girls who share a common interest in playing volleyball. 

A goal of mine as a future coach would be to make it not a negative to make mistakes and instill fear but to teach that mistakes or failings are chances to learn and grow as a person on and off the court.
