Hello, my name is Karla. I am a 17-yrs old and about to finish High School next May 2022 and start my college career. I am a senior at University Gardens High School. This school is specialized in science and mathematics and admission is competitive based on GPA and results of a test administered by the College Board. I have been at this school since 9th grade. My interest is to pursue a degree in the forensics sciences field and play volleyball at the collegiate level. I plan to pursue graduate studies and doctoral degree as a pathologist and work for a federal agency such as the FBI, Homeland Security or similar.
As for sports, I have been playing volleyball since 10 years old. I also played softball at my secondary school but as of this moment, since being admitted to HS I decided to focus on Volleyball since it is my favorite sport. I made it to a travel team for the first time in 2017 (14U) but travel did not materialize due to unforeseen events. In 2019, during my 15U season I had the opportunity to travel and play my first AAU Jr Nationals with Team Ponce Pumas (16U). In February 2020 I played at the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic in Washington DC. My team and I were about to participate at the Adidas Chicago Qualifier but that tournament was suspended due to, as we are know, global pandemics. In June 2021 I was able to play after more than year without any major tournament, to play at the 2021 AAU Jr. Nationals again with South Elite Volleyball Academy.
This coming academic/volleyball season 2021/2022 my goals are;
Academics: complete my mathematics courses in Calculus I and Probability and Statistics classes and my sciences courses in Forensic Chemistry and Physics. Graduate from HS and start my college career next year 2022.
Sports: keep working hard and smart to improve my game and continue physical training to complement and contribute to my volleyball team in college. Also, I feel good and proud when coaches had told me that I have a good defense and I want my defense to be as good or better than a Libero to complement my setting and further contribute to my college volleyball team.
