Rowan Shookman Baltzley -Personal Statement
I have been playing volleyball since the sixth grade for my school (Hilton Head Preparatory). At that point, I was playing both basketball and volleyball, but have since found a deep love and respect for the game of volleyball. I have additionally played club volleyball for the past 3 seasons. My first club year was freshman year, which was also the year I found myself even more drawn to the sport.
One of my personal goals is to attend college and play volleyball, and I have been working very hard to accomplish this goal. I have rapid reaction time and quick feet on the court. As a defensive specialist I am always on my toes. I’m constantly encouraging my teammates, and push myself to work harder every day. I use that same, hardworking mindset in the classroom. I work persistently to keep my grades up, take great interest in learning from my teachers and working with my classmates, and remain an active participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization offered at my school.
In summary, I want to go to college to further my education in the classroom and be an important and productive member of the team on the court. I want to learn and play to the greatest extent of my potential. I believe that I am very coachable, and am constantly seeking ways to improve my skills and support my team. I want to keep learning and playing at a higher level to see what I am capable of accomplishing in the college environment.
