Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Julianna Green. I currently attend Northwest High School and I will graduate with the class of 2022. I live with my parents Jose and Clemency, and my younger sister Isabella in Justin, TX. I would love to attend a college where I can continue to play volleyball and focus on an Architectural Design / Psychology degree.
Since I was a child, I would always design and build structures all around the house and wouldn't want to take them down. My passion for design continued through middle school as I won several awards for designs. I am currently enrolled in my high school's Architectural program to continue to grow and learn more about this passion.
At the age of 6, I began playing volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, and dancing ballet. As time went on, I developed a natural skill and affection for volleyball. I fell in love with the difficulty, skill, and the competitiveness needed to play volleyball. As I developed my skills and progress through the age groups, volleyball became a part of me. Hitting, passing, setting, and serving became so natural and challenging that I could not wait to play. Every day I focus on improving and putting all my dedication into volleyball. I do not always work on my volleyballs skills, I also make it goal to improve my physical abilities, mainly my vertical agility. I have been lucky enough to work with trainers to help me improve on/off the court. All of this wouldn't have happened without my parents and their sacrifices to help me be where I am today. I try to make them proud every time I hit the court.
In academics, I'm a hard worker and will always complete my work before time. Our main house rule is academics come first before athletics and I have always stood by the rule. My schedule has always been very active and dynamic, with trainers, club practices, school, tournaments, and private lessons. All these activities at a young age taught me to manage my time wisely and effectively. I wish to attend a school that can see me as an athlete and as a scholar.
In both academics/athletics I am very "coachable" and will get the job done no matter how many attempts it may take. No matter if I failed at an assignment at school, I work until I have fixed my task to perfection. I apply the same philosophy to my athletics. I put in extra work outside of practice to improve and perfect my skill.
By the end of my high school career I will be a 3-year varsity player. I have played club volleyball for 8 years, all in top teams. In club volleyball I normally play all-around, a six-rotation player. As a left-handed player, I can hit from either side of the court, outside or right side. The coaches game plan (strategy) determines which position I play. Once I rotate to the backrow, I take the position of a defensive specialist. I do don't know how to quit, I go for every play, and I leave everything on the court. I'm very confident in my hitting and defensive on the court. I play for my team and I do everything in my power to help them succeed.
Thank you for letting me give my personal statement and hope I will see you in the future!
