Personal Statement
I first saw my sister playing volleyball when I was three and I have wanted to play at the collegiate level ever since. As soon as I could understand the game I fell in love with it and I have been playing ever since. I love this sport because of the teammates that become sisters and the coaches that become parents. This sport has made me more ambitious for life in general by starting the competitive spark in me that fuels my work ethic. I am always trying to be my best and put the most effort possible in everything I do, especially in school, and volleyball. I love everything about volleyball even the tough conditioning. I love the feeling of soreness because it shows signs of improvement. I always try to hold myself and my team accountable so we can be the best we can be on and off the court. In our offseason we always compete and encourage each other no matter the workout. Our coach loves to see it when we all encourage and compete with each other. When I compete in the weightroom I not only compete with my teammates I compete with the doubts in my mind and push through them to improve and get closer to the goals I have set for myself. When I got to high school, I set a goal to be valedictorian, being valedictorian means that I can lead by example. I also appreciate the challenge this goal represents; it will allow me to push myself as much as possible. It is a very challenging goal. I realized it was going to be a lot harder than I thought but I still continue to aim for that goal and compete for the top spot.
