Steven Mackey once said " The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today". My parents have always inspired me to strive to be the best at all I do. I fell in love with volleyball my six grade school year during gym class. I frantically looked for clinics and attended as many as I could. My seventh and eighth school years I made the top teams. My coaches have always pushed me to be the best I could and continue to do so. During my eighth grade school year I joined club volleyball. Club volleyball has opened up a whole new world for me! This experience has helped me to focus on specific position as I continue to grow as an athlete. I always demonstrate positive mindset on and off the court. I am highly motivated and committed to excellence. Therefore, I attend additional practices and clinics to enhance my skills every opportunity I get. I welcome constructive criticism from coaches and immediately transfer the advice on the court. In both club and school sports it has taught me to cherish relationships. I have learned to encourage, standby, and push my teammates to try their best not only on the court but in their personal life. My short term goal is to make varsity as an entering freshmen to high school. I also desire to make national level in my club career. As for my long term goal, it is to be able to play at a University level.
Academically I strive and maintain A’s and B’s. The STEM program I currently attend has provided me with opportunities to accelerate my learning . I am currently working on ninth grade curriculum and will be earning college credit in some areas. My goal is to earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in high school. I am plan to earn a 28 or higher on my ACT and 1180 or higher on my SAT scores. I am a member of students council and PALS program. PALS program allows me to help my school and city communities by going to multiple events and fundraisers. I also enjoy volunteering and helping others.
I currently play middle hitter during club. I have mastered hitting quick sets and synchronizing with my setter. We have spent endless with my settiers practicing these skills. During our games I ensure that I am in the correct position to make my move and read the the court. I constantly strategize where to place the ball to score a point. I am a strong communicator while playing games with my teammates by telling my teammates what I see the hitter do and calling yours or mine. I also play a left side hitter and usually I am used to receiving tips and passing to the setter. Being a left side hitter also makes me have to move to the ball based on the set. I have also been working on double blocking and transitioning on and off the net to be ready for the ball to come over. I am a strong server and consistently make aces and make points for my team.
