My name is Olivia Abbott and I am a Junior at Veribest High School in San Angelo, Texas. I would love to play volleyball at the collegiate level, continuing to grow in the sport I love. I am primarily a setter but that doesn't completely define my game. We run a 6-2 and this plays well with my skillset. I am comfortable playing any position, but I love learning an opposing team’s defense and putting my hitters in the right spots for kills and running quicks. I went through a growth spurt between my sophomore and junior seasons and have become a much stronger outside hitter and defensive blocker at the net.
I have played volleyball for 9 years, starting club when I was 8 and have continued through today. I am Junior and have played varsity since I was Sophomore. I am currently taking weekly private lessons with a collegiate setter. I am a co-team captain, and we work on keeping the energy high on the court. I work daily to pick the girls up during practice and most importantly during the games. Teamwork is key to our success, and I promote this on and off the court.
I have been raised with a strong moral compass. I am not interested in compromising my beliefs for anyone or anything and will continually rely on these beliefs to get me through college and the rest of my life. Athletics allow me the opportunity to be a lead not only with my talents but also through my positive mind set. I believe this also works well with the subject I would like to study in school. I am very interested in the legal field, becoming a lawyer is a goal for me. I am currently enrolled in 3 college dual credit classes. These classes are preparing me for a college academic workload while playing volleyball.
