My name is Sydnee Hertzog. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but I have spent most of my life in Washington. My love for sports started when I was very young. My parents taught me to ski when I was around 6 years old. In addition to that, I participated in soccer, basketball, track, gymnastics, cheer, and very competitive football games in my yard. I was introduced to volleyball when I was about 12 years old where I instantly fell in love with the sport. A year later I joined my first club team where I took my skill to the next level. Playing competitively not only grew my love for the game but also introduced me to sports medicine and sports psychology. I continue to work on the mental facets of the game and feel I have become more of an emotionally intelligent athlete . My favorite book ¨The Sports Gene¨ by David Epstein really focuses on the science of athletic performance, which really fascinates me. In the future, I hope to graduate as an honor roll student and attend a university that allows me to focus on my preferred field of study and play the sport I love.
