Entering 7th grade at St. Mary's Catholic School in Moscow, ID I was offered the chance to try out for Moscow Club Volleyball, coached by Ryan Hofman. Ryan was the U14 Head Coach and did not coach me that year; but, after talking with my coach Grant Schoenlein, Ryan told me at the end of the year that I was one of the best, natural setters on the team. Setting has been a passion and a drive for me ever since.
Passion and drive to be great at volleyball helps me focus on increasing my volleyball IQ and my overall athleticism everyday. These characteristics are the foundation of what I will bring to every practice, and every game as a player on a college program. In college, my ideal would be to play for a Division I volleyball program. Living in Pullman, WA right now I have had the opportunity to watch WSU and PAC-12 teams play. It would be awesome to play at that level. But I really just want to play for a program that will believe in me and help me not only to be a great player but also to be a great student.
Studying is something that is sometimes hard for me, but I work really hard at it. For example, my physical science class is really hard. I started the year out with a C-. This grade was not okay with me. So I met with the teacher, Mr. Bledsoe, and worked really hard to raise the grade to a B. I may get an A by the end of the year. I am as proud of that grade as I am of being given the Sportsmanship Award by my high school volleyball team.
