Personal Statement
Hi, I’m Jade Halvensleben and I am seventeen years old. My interests and hobbies in life are architecture, interior design, and helping people in need by volunteering. I also have a passion for music, singing, and sports, such as volleyball.
I fell in love with volleyball when I first watched my sister play when I was nine. I love playing the outside hitter position, but am open to playing back row and middle. I now play all the way around and am a captain for both high school and club volleyball. I also recently got 2nd team all-conference. I love volleyball because of the high-intensity and hard competition. I also love that volleyball is a team sport where the players always come together after points, and are encouraging. Being versatile at the sport and the high energy level required make volleyball more enjoyable.
I have been starting since sophomore year throughout my high school career for both Belleville basketball and volleyball varsity teams. I supply leadership to my fellow teammates by maintaining a positive attitude, providing intensity, offering advice and continuing to play at a high energy level. During the volleyball club season I play on a higher level and am looked upon as a captain for the team. In varsity track I have learned to push myself individually as well as using my hard working personality to challenge myself to progressively get better. Through the years I have learned to jump serve and see the court faster as well as see plays that the opponent is running. I look forward to continuing my volleyball career and being challenged at the next level.
