Being a multi-sport athlete growing up, I have picked up many critical skills compatible with water polo. When I found water polo, I quickly became swept up in the game and it has been a priority over all other sports. Although I started the sport late, during the fall of 2018, I did not let that hold me back from learning about and quickly progressing in the sport of water polo. As a member of Team Sask for the last 3 years, I have aged up into 17U, 19U and Senior teams, and been a strong player while participating in tournaments in Canada and Greece. In late January 2024, I was a member of the Team Sask water polo team that traveled to Holland to participate in a training camp and play exhibition games against teams from the Netherlands. Every practice and tournament I strive to do the very best I can, while also helping my teammates to be their best. As one may know water polo is a team sport and I value this statement a lot. I get along well with my teammates no matter what sport and, overall, I respect them. It is not just my teammates I respect but also my coaches and opponents. I am fortunate to have coaches that push me to be the best I can be and, in return, I listen to them and apply their feedback in practices and games. Numerous club and high school basketball coaches have told me I am easily coachable and a complete team player. I am a fierce competitor and am not intimidated by anyone bigger, often defending a bigger player at center. My game IQ is very high and I have great cover defense.
I've always been able to manage multiple activities at a time. This year, in grade 12, I've competed in my school's cross country team, played high level water polo as a member of Team Sasks Senior team while traveling throughout western Canada to tournaments in addition to traveling to Holland to train and compete against teams from the Netherlands. In addition, I am the starting point guard on my school's senior basketball team. In my spare time, I coach young water polo athletes in my club's "I love water polo program".
Driving is my specialty, but I can adapt to any role. I have very good passing skills and awareness as well. I take great pride in maintaining a high level of fitness during the season and off-season as well. Academics are important to me and I do very well to balance my workload. I also have big goals in the area of academics and it continues to be a priority for me. As a student and athlete, I am very disciplined and well organized. For the last year, I have been coaching young water polo athletes that participate in a local program called “I Love Water Polo”.
I am seeking an opportunity to contribute to a water polo team to compete at a high level while receiving a quality undergraduate degree in Biology. Thank you in advance for your deliberation and consideration. If your university or college is interested in what I have to offer, I would be very interested in talking.
