I grew up watching my brother wrestle ever since I was three. I always asked my mom if I could join but she told me no because it was not for girls and I would get hurt eventually when I was five my mom decided to let me try it and I went home after my first practice nonstop talking about how much fun I had and how much I enjoyed it, I continued Wrestling for nine years. I had never wrestled a girl until my fifth year Wrestling I went to state tournament and they had the girls division for the very first time I ended up being first place and my mom was so excited and her support motivated me to keep going I ended up going to national the following year and placing third then I went to state again the year after and got first place again when I got to middle school I feel that my Wrestling career had a peak and I improved noticeably. My mom eventually became my biggest supporter after not wanting me to wrestle in the first place she would go out of her way to make sure to come to my tournaments and cheer me on no matter what win or lose she made it a point to tell me she was proud. when I got to high school they had a girls wrestling team, but it was only the second year of the program pretty early on in my freshman year wrestling season my mom went into the hospital for four days. I went to practice and went to go visit her right after. I know that’s what she would’ve wanted because of the endless support She showed me and always made sure I knew how proud she was with me with any accomplishments, unfortunately, she passed away, but I kept going, because Wrestling gave me a feeling like I was at home, and with Family. the passion that I have for Wrestling is far from any other type of passion I have for anything else I grew up Wrestling and I’m going onto my 11th year Wrestling only hoping to achieve many more goals. my freshman year I made it to state and was the first freshman for the girls wrestling program at my school to qualify for state along with breaking the record for freshmen's Best record (25-13)knowing how proud people were of me for making it to state, and how proud my mom would’ve been, gave me a very confident feeling and made me more determined and motivated to keep going and keep trying my best. I hope to continue Wrestling in college because it has helped me with self-discipline and confidence and many other things wrestling is a very big part of my life and I would like to continue doing this sport for as long as I am able to. Even if I can’t participate in Wrestling I would always like to be involved in it because it has always given me something to look forward to, and that is something I’m very grateful for. My mom always told me “show no mercy”And that is something I like to follow. When I step onto a Wrestling mat and I shake my opponents hand, all that I’m hoping for is a fair and good battle win or lose when I shake my opponents hand and walk off the mat, all I am focused on after is how I could’ve improved or not improved. Focusing on the bad and good, to hopefully help myself become better in the future.
