Personal Statement
My name is David Crawford, but I go by Michael. I am very interested in continuing my wrestling career at the collegiate level. I have set goals for my college career starting with making the right decision in where I would like to further my wrestling and education. I believe that choosing the college that would best fit me is crucial, not only because I would like to succeed in this sport that I love, but also because I want to be successful in my future. I would like to earn my bachelors degree in education. I feel that I am better prepared for college wrestling than some other recruits. I have been successful in managing not just wrestling and high school classes, but I have been in Dual Enrollment since my sophomore year. I will actually graduate from high school a class or two short of my Associates Degree.
I did not start wrestling until my Freshmen year, but I have loved the sport ever since I stepped on the mat. As someone who had never wrestled before I spent my first year getting knocked around. I was determined to get better, and the next year went from only winning a handful of matches to winning about half of them. I knew that the only way to get better was to keep working so I spent the whole next summer going to camps and tournaments to improve my knowledge and ability in the sport. I went to Disney Duals and attended the J Robinson camp. This past year the improvement was plain to see. I was placing in tournaments, I placed 3rd in my District, and qualified for Regionals. This summer I participated at Disney Duals again and will be attending multiple other camps. My goal for my senior year is to place at state and I believe that is a very attainable goal. Wrestling is a big part of my life and I have a lot to offer to my future coaches and teammates and I can't wait to get the opportunity to show you.
