Hello,
My name is Alex Reyna. I am a high school senior and I attend Richmond-Burton Community High School in Richmond, Illinois. I am a four-year varsity wrestler for my high school team. I qualified for the IHSA Varsity Sectionals tournament as a freshman in 2021. I qualified for the IWCOA State Wrestling Tournament as a sophomore in 2022. In the 2022 summer I qualified for Freestyle Wrestling Nationals and wrestled for Team Illinois, in Fargo. In my junior year, I placed 2nd in Regionals and wrestled into the blood round at the Oregon, Illinois Sectional tournament.
On 1.25.24 I celebrated my 99th career varsity win. I wrestle at the 190 lbs weight class for my team. Our Richmond-Burton Wrestling team just won our 2nd consecutive Kishwaukee Valley Conference Wrestling Championship. My current Trackwrestling (# 117620135) Rank Value is .85 (ranked since 12/27/23). My strengths that have lead to success on the mat for me are that I really love this sport. I wrestle year-round and love to travel all over to find competition. I lift weights and want to wrestle next year in college. I learn more from my losses than I do from my wins. I can tend to hyper-focus on big matches and I am working on being able to shut out all the outside pressures of performing in those matches. The more significant the stage is for me, the more fire I feel to step up to that challenge.
I have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and I take my schoolwork seriously. I am looking forward to attending college to study medicine and wrestle at the next level. I want to explore Division 1 and 2 college options for my education and opportunities to wrestle beyond high school.
The best way for me to succeed at something difficult is for someone to tell me I can't do it. I live for that challenge. Wherever I decide to attend college, I will do everything in my power to continue to wrestle at a high level for that school as well. I have many athletic and academic gifts. What my coaches will notice about me is that I refuse to be outworked. I have a high drive and non-stop motor that doesn't quit. No one will put in more effort than I will. I am excited to show that to my next school, team, and coaches.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Alex Reyna
