My name is Jayden Riley and I am a 5'11" and 256 lbs, Senior at Nansemond River High School. I am a part of the Warriors Wrestling and Football teams. I began wrestling in my Sophomore year and am currently in my final Varsity season as a Senior this year. I have grown to truly love the sport of wrestling and I have a great desire to continue honing my skills on the collegiate level as I enter into college next year. As a Warriors Football team member, I play DT on the Varsity team. Both sports have allowed me the opportunity to learn what it means to be a teammate and a great team player. I enjoy working with my teammates and bringing out the best in each other. I always root and support my teammates on and celebrate our successes. I've also learned from my failures by continuously working on my skills through training and practice. I believe that hard work will always pay off in the end and that giving up is never an option. I strive to be better in all that I do. On the academic front, my journey has not always been as smooth as I would like. I have worked hard since entering High School to improve my academics and have steadily improved over my years thus far. What I have learned during this pandemic and virtually learning, I tend to find myself more focused which is allowing me to see a vast improvement in my grades. My goal for my Senior year academically is to get my GPA up as close to a 3.0 as possible. One unique skill that I possess that others may find surprising is that I am a great cook. I am currently enrolled in the CCAP program which is tailored to hone my cooking skills and to be honest was my second if not dual college major (Culinary Arts) that I am considering.
