Personal Statement
Ever since I was five, baseball has been near, if not at, the absolute center of my life. I have always had the desire to be the absolute best player I can be. Showing up at the field at 9 when the game starts at 3 just so I could get extra hours of practice. Asking the coach to hit me ground balls after every practice ends. Taking every opportunity to hear people's advice, criticisms, and judgments so I can advance my game and step up to the next level. I am and always will be open to tweaks or pieces of advice regarding my game and life in general.
From an early age, I have known that my education must come before baseball. An education lasts forever, whereas baseball lasts a few decades (with a little luck and hard work). An education can be passed on to future generations who could go one to change the world. I plan to leave my mark on this earth and I will need a good education to help my achieve that goal. Taking advantage of a free education is the best thing I can do to give myself, my family, and my future loved ones the best life possible.
As far as leadership goes, I lead by example. I am always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave. While the competition is sleeping, I am working hard on my game. I help my teammates as much as I can as well, in regards to life and baseball because they an my coaches are truly my extended family. I will always have their back, no matter what the situation demands. The team comes first before my personal stats. Anything I can do to help contribute to a win I will do. Baseball is a team sport and I will always put the team first.
