Personal Statement
My Baseball Factory evaluations from both sessions.
08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 PJ is a very respectful player who works hard on his skills. He is very coachable and has a willingness to learn. On the mound, this LHP maintains fluid tempo and works at his pace. He changes speeds well and works his pitches to both sides. FB now tops out at 80 mph while showing tail & sink. He pounds the zone with strikes, working ahead in the count and challenging hitters to swing the bat. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with good actions. He finishes complete and fields the position well. At 1B - PJ has a good frame and can get to almost everything thrown his way. He adjusts well on the bag and can pick if with sure hands. As a hitter, this lefty has an aggressive approach as he steps into the box looking to swing it. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. More power potential is there with more lower 1/2 drive. Cosden is a talented player who has a ton of upside on the diamond.
06/16/2015 - College PREP - Charleston, WV. PJ is a skilled (5'10"/205) 2-way player as a 1B/LHP. With the bat, this lefty displays a square setup with good balance. Swing path is level as he whips it through the zone quickly resulting in hard hit line-drives. More power will come if he can get back into a loaded position sooner and utilize his strong lower 1/2. At 1B, he has active footwork and comes to get the GB. He hustles all over and isn't afraid to lay out. On the mound, PJ has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has on-time separation with good lead arm extension. FB ranges from 74-76 mph while showing slight tail. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape while changeup has tail. He fills up the zone and throws pitches for strikes. PJ is a talented player who will make an impact on the diamond.
Respect; a word I use often. I respect my teachers. I respect my coaches. I respect my peers and teammates. I respect myself and I respect the game. Since the first day I went onto the baseball field, I knew I was born to play. I was born to pitch. I play other sports but baseball is my passion. I am a team player. I believe all my coaches will attest that I've done anything and everything they've asked of me. I believe no one is bigger than the game. I just want to be part of the game. My goal has always been to play baseball while getting my education. My grades are important to me. When this great game of baseball is over for me, I want to be prepared for life. I have an interest in business, specifically accounting. I am currently taking a college level accounting class, as a high school junior. I've been blessed with some great teachers both academically and athletically. I'd like to attend a college that holds their athletes to high standards.
I have a great support system in my family and friends. They have supported me and my aspirations since I was very young. No matter what happens from here, I am grateful for their love and support.
