I have played baseball and loved it basically my whole life. I am 5'6" and weigh 135. I always bat lead off or number two in the line up, my bat is strong and I have good base running skills. Defense is my largest contribution to any team I have played for, but I have a good bat as well. My sixth grade year I tried out and made a select baseball team. We won both fall and summer state championships, placing fourth out of sixty-five teams at nationals. I have played year around ever since. I was the starting short stop on JV my freshman and sophomore year, I was brought up to varsity for the playoffs both years. I was playing behind an upper classman that went on to play college baseball. My junior year I was the starting second baseman and batted second in the lineup, our team advanced to the playoffs every year of my high school career so far. I am a four year letterman in cross country. We advanced to regionals every year, my junior year advancing to state. I am also a three year letterman in basketball, I am the starting point guard and the team captain. I have received the academic all district award every year, second team all district second baseman and MVP of the cross country team. I was a class represenative for the Student Council and I am in the Beta Club, which I feel has helped with my leadership skills.
I feel that I have a lot to offer, I just need to be given a chance. It has always been a dream of mine to play college baseball, and I would love an opportunity to do that. My family and I have made great sacrifices to see that I continued playing at an advanced level. Parties, girl friends and just hanging out with friends is something that I decided to give up to reach my goal of playing at a higher level.
I am open to any kind of school, I want to continue to improve my skills and receive an education as well. If I go to a junior college, I would like to have a coach that would help me to further my baseball career. My work ethic is great, I have never been afraid of hard work. I feel that I have had to be better, faster and stronger than the next guy because of my size. I have never let that handicap me, it just made me more determined.
I haven't completely decided on a major yet, but I do have an interest in mechanical and chemical engineering. I would like to start off getting my basics and explore different possibilities.
Anyone of course would love to step in as a freshman and play, but I do understand it takes a great deal of work and dedication. Realistically, I just want an opportunity to show that my hard work through the years has paid off. I feel that I could make an impact on a team, I am a team player and a diligent worker.
