Payne Shanafelt: 6 foot, 2 inches, 231 lbs, 4.45 in 40 yards with great hands and blocking abilities. Rated by NCSA Athletic Recruiting as a 4.5 star athlete. In 2011 season I was a freshman at West Liberty University, WV. WLU didn't turn out to be the proper environment for me so I am looking for another University to attend that would better fit my skills I have to offer. I am a two (2) athletic scholarship winner (football and baseball). My punting video is on YouTube (see above) and you will see I punt over 55 to 60 yards in the air with 4.65 hang time. I averaged 20.9 yards per reception and I had 12 “pancake” blocks in my Sr. year. I punted 15 times with an average net of 43.13 yards in my Sr year with 6 punts being inside the 20. I had 5 TD's and only need to say that our offense in my Jr and Sr year was strictly a running offense and I blocked 95% of my plays. I am athletically versatile for many positions and would like to play for coaching staff that can help me improve upon my skills.
A few of my accomplishments in high school were: Placed 14th out of over 250 players in a Nike football combine, Places 2nd out of another Nike football combine with a SPARQ of 103.58, Varsity starter from my sophomore year, Most Improved Player, Co-Captain of the team in my senior year and Player of the week ( 2 times). Being the Co-Captain of my team is a very proud honor for me and I was told by my coach that it is due to my leadership, dedication and hard work.
I have gone on several mission trips with my church to help those less fortunate and I have enjoyed making a difference in someone's life. Closer to home I work with the Habitat for Humanity and there is no better feeling than to help someone achieve a new start in life by building them a home. I have much to offer a school and I have much to learn. My size and speed offers you to place me in many positions e.g. TE, OLB, P, WR, RB or HB. I hope you will find me the type of young man you would want to be a part of your team. I work hard to achieve my goals and I will be successful with your team and your college. I am ready to go to work!
