Personal Statement
I want to go to a school that will allow me to live my dream of getting a quality four year education while playing college basketball. I come from a family that values education. Both of my parents have earned masters degrees and my grandmother is a retired elementary school principal. Education is very important to me. I am taking a full load of honors courses in my junior year of high school and maintaining solid grades. I have taken the SAT and the ACT once already and earned very good scores with plans to take both again during the spring of my junior year. Basketball is also very important to me. I have been playing since I was a small child. Not a day goes by that I don't touch a basketball. I am a starter at small forward for my high school varsity team and was selected Honorable Mention All-Area for the 2013-14 season. I led my varsity team in 2014 in scoring (12.0 ppg), 3-pointers attempted, 3-pointers made, and in 3-point shooting percentage (39%) for the season. As a sophomore JV player in 2012-13, I started at all five positions on the floor at one time or another and led that team in scoring as well with 14.0 ppg. My strengths are length, court vision, ballhandling, offensive rebounding, finishing around the rim, and shooting range. I am 6'4" and still growing. Having just turned 17 years of age, my doctor thinks I will end up in the 6'5" to 6'6" range.
