My name is Jarrett Kinney and I am a junior at Cary Grove High School in Cary, IL. Even though I started playing golf at 5 years old, I only started playing competitive golf since my freshman year after switching from baseball and dedicating myself exclusively to golf. I have played Varsity #1 on the high school golf team starting in my sophomore year (2010) and was MVP both last year and this year (lowest 9 hole/18 hole match averages). During last year's season (2010), I advanced to the IHSA sectional tournament as an individual shooting a 75 (placing 7th) in the IHSA regional tournament.
In 2011 season, on Sep. 29,2011, during the FVC conference championship (see press links) I captured individual medalist honors with an even-par 72 at Pine Meadows beating last year's IHSA 3A runner-up finalist/this year's IHSA 3rd place finisher. I advanced to the 2011 IHSA Sectional tournament for 2nd year but missed going to this year's IHSA 3A state tourney by one shot. I was named to the 2011 NWHerald All-Area 1st team where my 18 hole match average was 76.5 during the season.
I have started this recruiting process a bit late as it wasn't until this past summer that I realized how passionate I am about playing golf at the collegiate level. I am open to all divisions and am looking for institutions that have the right balance between the classroom and athletics. I want to be in a competitive program with the opportunity to play wherever I go. I love playing golf and I have a very hard work ethic on my golf game.
My goals next year (2012) are to play the AJGA series, qualify for some Open tourneys and place in the top 5 of an AJGA open tournament, and to be a top contender in the 2012 IHSA state 3A tournament next fall.
